IOU Successfully Raises $122K in African Scholarships this Ramadan 2023
Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Ramadan, the blessed month of fasting, prayer, and reflection, has once again brought immense blessings and generosity to the global Muslim community.
This year, we are humbled and grateful to announce that the International Open University (IOU) has successfully raised an awe-inspiring $122,000 in African scholarships on Launchgood - Alhamdulilah! This incredible achievement is a testament to the power of unity, compassion, and the spirit of giving among the ummah.
The success of this campaign would not have been possible without the unwavering support and generosity of more than 7,000 community members who came together to make a difference.
Through your contributions, IOU will be able to grant over 400 scholarships this year, allowing deserving Muslims in Africa to access quality Islamized education and the chance for a brighter future.
First and foremost, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and thanks to every donor who opened their hearts and wallets during this blessed month. Your generosity has truly made a lasting impact on the lives of these deserving students, and your selflessness has been a shining example for others to follow.
In Islam, charity, or "sadaqah," holds tremendous importance, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. It is a time when Muslims are encouraged to increase their acts of worship, seek forgiveness, and strive to help those in need.
"The Prophet (peace be upon him) was the most generous of people and he was at his most generous during Ramadan." (Muslim, 2308)
Education, too, holds a special place in Islamic teachings. The pursuit of knowledge is not only a right but also a duty for every Muslim, male and female. Education helps individuals unlock their potential, contribute positively to society, and strengthen their connection with their Creator.
Providing education to the underprivileged is an act of compassion that aligns with the teachings of Islam, as Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever follows a path in the pursuit of knowledge, Allah will make a path to Paradise easy for him." (Bukhaari)
The African continent has its unique challenges, and many bright and eager minds face barriers to education due to economic hardships. By supporting scholarships in Africa, we are not only investing in the future of these individuals but also uplifting entire communities and helping them break free from the cycle of poverty.
As this blessed month comes to a close, we urge our donors to continue their support throughout the year. The impact of these scholarships extends far beyond Ramadan, and we have the opportunity to transform lives and sow seeds of positive change. Together, we can create a ripple effect of goodness and empower generations to come.
Let us remember that our charitable actions are not only an obligation but a means of seeking the pleasure of Allah and attaining His infinite blessings. The Quran reminds us, "The example of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah is like that of a grain of corn that sprouts seven ears, and in every ear, there are a hundred grains." (Quran 2:261)
May Allah accept the efforts of all those who contributed, and may He bless the recipients of these scholarships abundantly. Let us strive to continue making a positive impact in the lives of others and work together to build a more just, compassionate, and educated world.
In closing, we express our deepest gratitude to all the donors who made this achievement possible. Together, as a united ummah, we can continue to change lives and make a difference. Let us seize this opportunity to be a source of hope, inspiration, and transformation for the underprivileged in Africa.
Ramadan may be coming to an end, but the spirit of giving should never fade. Let us continue to be a means of positive change and support, not only during this blessed month but throughout the entire year.
May Allah bless you all abundantly for your generosity and commitment to making the world a better place. Ameen.
